Lucknow: King George’s Medical University on Tuesday received approval from the National Medical Commission (NMC) for five postgraduate MD (emergency medicine) seats for the academic session 2022-2023.
The nod from the apex medical education regulatory body came following an assessment of the institute earlier in April.
“The department had no MD seat before. With the commission’s nod, KGMU became the first medical institution to get the highest number of MD (emergency medicine) seats in Uttar Pradesh,” claimed Prof Haider Abbas, head of the department concerned.
The decision will give a boost to medical education in the state. Students will be able to take admissions after NEET PG counselling, he said.
