Lucknow: The superspeciality medical education in the state got a boost with King George’s Medical University getting approval from the National Medical Council to increase 10 postgraduate (MD) seats in the respiratory medicine department.
With this, the number of post graduation seats in respiratory medicine courses at the institute reached 15. Officials said that the Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) reviewed the institute’s request for increasing seats in July. And after assessing the number of teachers, their experience, publications and other infrastructure, it approved 10 seats for the academic year 2022-23. Now, these seats will be valid for three years.
“In the past 11 years, the number of seats has gone up by three-fold which is a great achievement for the department,” said a senior faculty member, at the respiratory department.
