Mobile app to book ‘108 ambulances’ launched

Ranchi: Jeevan Doot mobile application where people can book state-run ambulance services was launched on Monday.

Ziqitza Healthcare Private Limited which operates the 108 state-run ambulance services in collaboration with the health department on Monday rolled out the app.

Company officials released the operational data and said that they have served over 8.37 lakh patients since November 2017 which also included 39,000 Covid-19 patients across the state.

The officials credited their ambulance staff for the dedicated service and said that they are real Covid-19 warriors as they served the patients even after understanding the risks involved.

Recounting a incident wherein the ambulance staff went out of their way to help patients, Milton Singh, project head of Ziqitza healthcare in Jharkhand, said that during the first wave, two of their staff in Pakur were in charge of shifting a prisoner from Pakur to PMCH Dhanbad.

“Subroto Singh and Maekil Marandi were assigned to shift a prisoner, who had tested positive, from Pakur prison on August 2, 2020 as he was to be admitted to PMCH Dhanbad. The patient was a dangerous criminal and had tried to escape from a quarantine facility a few days ago. Despite knowing that, our crew didn’t hesitate and went ahead to shift him.”

Dhaneshwar Tirkey, a senior official of the healthcare firm, said that Bablu Murmu and Francis Murmu were assigned the duty of shifting a body of a Covid patient. After they arrived at the cremation ground, no one apart from the patient’s son was available, so the two men ensured that they also participated in the rituals with the patient’s son and helped him in cremation.

Singh said that each were rewarded with cash prizes by the company and were appreciated for their efforts.
