ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka has mandated maximum ‘delivery order’ fees and a cost recovery fee paid for import containers to be effective from November 01, 2022 according to a gazette notice issued by Shipping Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva.
The maximum delivery order fee to be paid by an ultimate consignee/importer for a full container load (FCL) is 18,000 rupees. From shipping lines to freight forwarders or consolidators the DO fee shall be 14,800 rupees.
For LCL shipments the DO fee to be paid by importers is 20,500 rupees. From consolidators to forwarders it is 16,500 rupees.
The fees may be revised every six months based on Sri Lanka’s inflation index.

A service provider could also charge a ‘cost recovery fee’ of the rupee equivalent of 8 US dollar per one cubic meter. (Colombo/Oct26/2022)
